Stephen Szuch

Steve Szuch has successfully completed the process through the Ohio State Bar Association (“OSBA”) to become a Certified Specialist in Family Relations Law. OSBA certification is a voluntary process through which attorneys must pass a four-hour written examination in their field of specialty, show a high level of substantial involvement in that field, provide evidence of good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio, comply with ongoing education requirements, and receive favorable evaluations from multiple attorneys and judges familiar with the applicant’s work.

Per the OSBA’s requirements, Steve submitted an application to be certified in the first half of 2015. The OSBA’s Family Relations Law Specialty Board reviewed his application and determined that he was eligible to sit for the written examination, which he took on November 6, 2015 at the OSBA headquarters. Topics tested included child support, dissolution, legal separation/divorce, allocation of parental rights, dispute resolution, ethics, spousal support, taxation, visitation, and practice and procedure. Steve passed the test and is now one of two attorneys in Toledo, Ohio with this certification. The other certified Toledo attorney is Patricia Hayden Kurt, also a Partner with Spengler Nathanson.

Steve’s practice as a Partner with Spengler Nathanson primarily focuses in the area of domestic relations. He has helped numerous clients through their divorces and dissolutions, custody issues, and domestic violence issues. Steve also has experience in the areas of civil litigation, personal injury, business transactions, foreclosures, probate, and estate planning.
